Mitigation is a critical part of criminal defense cases. Our clients have faced adversity in many aspects of their personal lives such as abuse, addictions, traumatic brain injuries and low socio economic status.
Many of our clients are affected by mental health diagnosis or developmental delay/diagnosis. Megan knows that building trust with the client, family and friends is key to humanizing in the client in court.
Mitigation also consists of collecting the client’s personal records to further confirm that the challenges they faced along their life path is backed up by documented evidence.
Mitigation starts at the desk but gets finished in the field by speaking with mitigation witnesses such the clients past teachers, social workers, etc.
The Investigation aspect deals with the specific charges that our clients face. This includes but is not limited to searching for witnesses, research the officers involved, review police reports and revisit the crime scene.
